Paula Walsh – Senior Associate

Paula Walsh is a graduate of the Atlantic Police Academy in PEI and serves as a member of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the Provincial policing agency; having worked as a police officer for more than 24 years. Throughout her career, Paula has had responsibilities in many aspects of policing including assignments as the Executive Officer for the Chief of Police, front line Patrol, Criminal Investigation Division (Major Crime investigator and undercover assignments) & Communications.

Almost twenty years ago, she began dealing with the media in Newfoundland & Labrador with her work in Community Services and later established the Crime Stoppers Program in the Province. Without a doubt, Paula is most recognized in the public eye as the "face" of the RNC. Having served as the Media Relations spokesperson for several years, Paula brings tremendous knowledge and first-hand experience in how to "hit the ground running" and deal with the media during crisis!

This, coupled with an extensive training background has provided the tools necessary to become a Senior Associate of Jim Stanton & Associates while offering her abilities as an effective facilitator with exceptional organizational skills.

Interestingly, her introduction to media relations began with Jim Stanton began many years ago as a graduate of his Media Communications course then offered by the Canadian Police College and the Public Information Officers course at the Emergency Preparedness College, Arnprior. Most recently, she became a graduate of the Senior Police Administrators course at the Canadian Police College, Ottawa. Ms. Walsh has taught with Jim Stanton & Associates in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and various locations throughout Ontario.

Her volunteer commitment has been recognized with the presentation of the NL Provincial medal for Volunteerism, the Canada 125 and the Queen's Jubilee medals.

Paula has served on the National Board of Directors for the Canadian Red Cross, the Atlantic Zone Council and previously as NL Regional President for the organization. Her broad range of volunteer activity continues today as she serves with her son's local School Council and as an Aide de Camp to the Lt. Governor of Newfoundland & Labrador.

In 2004, Ms. Walsh was chosen as a participant in the prestigious Governor General's Leadership Conference where those selected studied diversity within Canada. She currently serves as a patrol NCO with the RNC in St. John’s.
